The Usefulness of Men’s Jewelry Box Made of Leather
These days accessory boxes for men are becoming a great fashion statement. A modern man will feel incomplete without a men’s jewelry box as it helps him to organize his things and keep it safe. There are various materials used for making jewelry boxes for men.
In all leather is almost as popular as wood but is not very durable. Due to lack of proper tanning methods, leather jewelry boxes of long ago could not be finished well. Now with the major strides in tanning technology, leather boxes look good.
Both authentic and synthetic types of leather are used in the manufacture of valet boxes. The commonly used ones are the vegetable tanned leather, chrome tanned leather, alum tanned leather and aldehyde leather. They could also be used for other purposes like making shoes, bags, etc.
The price of the jewelry box is fixed depending upon the type of leather used and the amount of leather tanning involved in getting the product. One of the expensive types of leather is chamois leather which is brain tanned and very soft. Brain tanning is where animal brain is used to soften leather.
Leather goods like pouches, and jackets for men can be easily crafted with this soft and pliant leather. It can be easily compressed as the leather is so soft. It is nice to own leather jewelry boxes, pouches,or cases.
Leather has a beautiful glossy finish and would definitely catch one’s eye. As long as you take care of your leather jewelry box it will last otherwise the leather will be spoiled. Polish your box well and allow it to dry in the sun, especially before winter sets in.
Your box should last through the winter if you give it a nice shine with a brush. You will find cracks on the leather leaving it crumpled and ready to tear if you do not take this precautionary step. The softer the leather is the more careful you should be. Bags made of tougher leather need less polishing and care.
The drawback with leather boxes is that they can easily be torn, so you need to watch out for sharp objects. There is no way of restoring a leather pouch if it is torn other than patching it up, which will look ugly if not done properly.
Jewelry boxes made of genuine leather are highly priced, so you may not be able to afford one. If that is the case, then opt for an accessory box made of synthetic leather. The durability, however, will not be the same as the pure leather box.
An authentic leather jewelry box is an ideal choice if you can afford one, but make sure to take good care of it so it lasts you a life time.
